As you navigate through Doctopus, you might come across the term “AI credits.” But what exactly are AI credits, and how do they work in Doctopus? Let’s dive in and explore!

What Are AI Credits?

In Doctopus, AI credits are a form of currency used when you choose to utilize AI models other than the default GPT-3.5.

You can easily switch between AI models using the button right on top of the chatbox, as highlighted in the screenshot.

Each message you send using a more advanced or specialized AI model will cost you a certain amount of credits, more on that in the next section. This allows you to have flexibility and control over the AI models you use, ensuring you get the best possible results for your specific needs.

How Do AI Credits Work?

Here’s a simple breakdown of how AI credits function within Doctopus:

Default AI Model (GPT-4o mini)

When you use Doctopus with the default GPT-4o mini model, you won’t incur any AI credit costs. This model is powerful and versatile, suitable for a wide range of document types and analysis needs.

Advanced AI Models

As the screenshot above points out, each advanced AI models will burn a certain amount of credits for you. The higher the credit cost, the more advanced the model .

Why Use AI Credits?

AI credits provide you with the flexibility to choose the best AI model for your specific requirements. While the default GPT-4o mini model is highly effective, there may be instances where a different model could yield better results. And as you've already received a monthly amount of AI credits, why don't try using them, right?

Using AI credits allows you to tailor Doctopus’s capabilities to your unique needs, ensuring you get the most accurate and relevant insights from your documents.

Managing Your AI Credits

To make the most out of your Doctopus experience, it’s essential to manage your AI credits wisely. Keep track of your usage and allocate credits to documents that would benefit the most from advanced AI models.

We advise to use the default or cheaper models for easy, general questions regarding your documents, and more expensive ones for complex questions. This is to make sure you best utilize your monthly AI credits no matter what paid plan you're on!

If you’re on a Lifetime plan, you already receive a monthly amount of AI credits. However, if you find that the monthly allocation isn’t enough to meet your needs, you have the option to purchase one-time AI credits. This flexibility ensures that you never run out of credits when you need them the most.
